FRIENDS ONLY
I have decided to make my journal Friends Only, with the exception of fanfic posts. I don't like the idea of not knowing who's reading my journal. This was never intended to be a public blog, just a place where I could talk to my friends (and now the cyber friends I've acquired over the years).
If you'd like to be LJ friends, feel free to add me--no need to comment here. I'll friend anyone who's not an obvious spambot.
Thank you!

I got the idea to write Mad Men as an Office-like sitcom, with documentary talking heads and everything. I just wrote the first "act" and will post it here; I'm not posting to any communities until it's done. But I'd love some feedback! I think it's pretty funny so far, but it's also really late at night...
Contains vulgarity, sexual content and deliberate anachronisms. Also, spoilers for all of Season Three through "The Color Blue."

Summary/Notes: Liz runs into Floyd at the movies. Sequel to this future fic, in which Jack and Liz are amicably divorced. I really like that story as a standalone, but was having trouble with story ideas and liked the idea of writing more in that ficverse. Feedback welcome. Let me know if you want to read more.

foodygoody asked me to write a Toby fic that was actually happy. Instead, I wrote depressing Toby-fic. Do I get partial credit? Also, I'm reading a John Updike book and I basically ripped off his writing style. Whoops.

Anyone here read Highlights Magazine as a kid? Remember Goofus and Gallant? If not, here's a synopsis from Wikipedia.
First appearing in Highlights in 1948, Goofus & Gallant is a cartoon feature created by Garry Cleveland Myers and drawn by Anni Matsick. The strip features two contrasting boys, Goofus and Gallant. In each cartoon, it is shown how each boy would respond to the same situation. Goofus chooses an irresponsible path, while Gallant is kinder. Goofus and Gallant's primary function is to teach children basic social skills.
So, they pretty much need to hook up, right?

Disclaimer: Not mine! Fun, not profit. Title courtesy of Sheryl Crow.
Rating: R
Note: This is super-cracky and has a potential audience of pretty much no one...although there are other G&G parodies out there. What I'm saying is, I won't be crushed by an absence of comments.

WARNING WARNING WARNING: Not exactly a death fic, but pretty close.
Summary/Notes: Not an hour ago, I was pondering my inability to tackle this particular subject in this particular fandom. But here we are! This plot had occurred to me before; since it's an atypical topic for me, I also switched up the writing style. Hope it works for you.
Title comes from T.S. Eliot's "The Hollow Men": "This is the way the world ends/not with a bang, but with a whimper." Turned up fortuitously in a book I'm reading.

Characters: Jack/Liz. Brief mention of Liz/Conan.
Word Count: 2358
Rating: R for sexual content
Spoilers: Through early season three
Disclaimer: Not mine! Fun, not profit.
Summary/Notes: "Sometimes Liz tries to rank herself and Jack on the Divorced Couples Scale."
I tried to decide under what circumstances I could actually make myself break Jack and Liz up and keep them apart. I decided that, paradoxically, the more amiable their split was, the easier it would be for me to resist the urge to get them back together.
